RESOLUTION NO. 008-2026
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAWAIIAN GARDENS,
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT 106008 BETWEEN THE CITY OF HAWAIIAN
GARDENS AND THE SOUTHEAST LOS ANGELES COUNTY WORKFORCE
DEVELOPMENT BOARD TO APPROVE ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE PY 2025- 2026 “YOUTH@WORK” PROGRAM AND TO AUTHORIZE AN UPDATE TO THE FY2025-26 BUDGET TO APPROPRIATE THESE FUNDS
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Hawaiian Gardens supports youth employment and work experiences for its youth in our community; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Hawaiian Gardens to collaborate with the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board (SELACO)to conduct an “Earn and Learn” Work Experience Program; and
WHEREAS, the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board previously provided funding of $280,559 for the Youth@Work program to pay wages ($17.87 per hour), social security, Medicare, workers compensation, program supervision, supportive services and supplies to all program participants; and WHEREAS, the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board has approved additional funding of $35,830; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hawaiian Gardens will serve 10 additional participants and provide all participants with up to 140 hours of work experience and 20 hours of personal enrichment training.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAWAIIAN GARDENS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves Amendment to Agreement 106008 with the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board and authorizes the City Manager to accept the additional funding to expand services for the PY 2025-2026 Youth@Work Program and update the FY 2025-2026 budget to appropriate these funds.
Section 2. The City Council hereby directs the City Clerk to sign Resolution No. 008- 2026 attesting its passage by the City Council.
