RECOMMENDATION:
RECOMMENDATION THAT THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVE A DONATION TO
HAWAIIAN GARDENS BASED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION TO SUPPORT YOUTH SPORTS
SUMMARY
The City of Hawaiian Gardens Policy for Monetary Donations to Non-Profit Organizations provides that the City Council may accept applications from eligible non-profit organizations requesting donations from the City twice annually, in July and January of each fiscal year. The City adopted a budget for FY 2026-2027 which includes $20,000 for donations to non-profits that provide services for the benefit of residents of Hawaiian Gardens. For the July 2026 cycle one application has been received. Below is the organization, the amount requested and the planned use of the funds. • Hawaiian Gardens Little League – $5,000 for support for the youth baseball and softball programs, opening and closing ceremonies
Staff has reviewed the submitted application and verified that it meets the requirements of the policy, and recommends that the City Council approve the request.
FISCAL IMPACT
The donation will be made from funds currently available from the budgeted amount of $20,000 for donations to non-profit organizations
