SUBJECT:
Award of Contract for 120th St Improvements – Crenshaw Blvd to Felton Ave, Phase II (Project # 21-03)
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff recommends that the City Council award contract to lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Sequel Contractors, Inc. of Santa Fe Springs, CA.
DISCUSSION:
At the meeting of March 12th, 2023, City Council authorized Engineering Staff to public advertise for this project with a due date of April 9th, 2024. The City received four bids with each accompanied by bid bonds. After a thorough review of the proposal, reference checks, and verification of the contractor’s license, staff determined that Sequel Contractors, Inc. of Santa Fe Springs, CA was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
This project consists of excavation and removal of existing pavement, concrete and asphalt paving, construction of curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveways, storm drain, potholing and ADA ramps. In addition, work will include, traffic striping, adjustment of utilities and all other work necessary to complete the improvements in accordance with the Plans and Specifications.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN:
The project is a result of the City working closely with funding and regulatory agencies to support and improve our infrastructure.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.The approximate cost of $3,195,100.00 will be funded through the allocated and approved Measure R Grant.
