SUBJECT:
Approval of a Change Purchase Order to J. Lee Engineering, Inc on the amount of $200,000 for a Total Not-to-Exceed Amount of $250,000 annually.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve a Change Purchase Order to J. Lee Engineering, Inc on the amount of $200,000 for a Total Not-to-Exceed Amount of $250,000 annually.
DISCUSSION:
Building and Safety Department has had consultants on board for plan checking and inspection services for multiple years, one being J LEE ENGINEERING. There has been an increase in commercial and residential plans submitals. These projects range from tenant improvements to structural work at SpaceX facilities, multiple Hotels throughout the City, several commercial and residential solar panel projects and recently multiple cannabis sites. To meet the demand and provide the required standards of practice when the Building and Safety department is overloaded beyond its current capacity, it has been determined to increase the use of the consultant J LEE ENGINEERING. Building and Safety Department is requesting an increase in their existing Purchase Order to $250,000.00 annually in order for them to assist the department and provide quality services.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN:
This increase in the consultant Purchase Order will help Building and Safety work cooperatively and effectively with developers to revitalize the commercial, residential and industrial areas.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.The increase will be funded through the collection of plan check fees and permit fees from customer.
