DISCUSSION:

This contract encompasses various crucial maintenance activities, including the City’s Weed Abatement Project, landscape and general maintenance needs, and specific tasks such as concrete and asphalt replacement, sidewalk, curb, and gutter replacements. Additionally, it includes essential tree planting, removal, and maintenance services for the medians along Hawthorne Blvd, Inglewood Ave, and Imperial Hwy. These contract activities are designed to complement the work performed by City Staff as required.

Furthermore, the contract incorporates regular debris maintenance at Caltrans right of way, ensuring that roads and adjacent areas remain free fro obstructions. This work plays vital rolwe in perserving safe and accessible roadways, while also preventing the accumulation of trash, plastic, and other debris from being washed into our storm drain by rainwater. By effectively managing debris, the contract helps to safeguard the cleanliness and functionality of the surrounding environment.

In addition, in response to growing concerns about homeless encampments on freeway ramps, the city undertook a proactive approach by installing 1,900 linear feet of heavy-duty fencing.

Strategically placed along vulnerable areas, this initiative aims to mitigate the spread of encampments onto freeway ramps, thereby enhancing safety for both residents and commuters.
