SUBJECT:
Agreement Between the City of Hawthorne and the Centinela Valley Union High School District for the provision of a “School Resource Officer” (SRO).
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Staff recommends the City Council approve and authorize the Chief of Police to execute the Agreement between the City of Hawthorne and the Centinela Valley Union High School District for the provision of a “School Resource Officer” (SRO).
DISCUSSION:
The Hawthorne Police Department has a long- and well-established relationship with the Centinela Valley Union High School District. The Hawthorne Police Department has been providing a School Resources Officer (SRO) to Hawthorne High School for the last three decades.
The Hawthorne Police Department would like to continue providing School Resource Officer (SRO) services for Hawthorne High School (Centinela Valley Union High School District) for the upcoming school year. The Hawthorne Police Department and the Centinela Valley Union High School District have agreed upon an annual cost of $174,000 for one (1) year for the proposed service requested.
