DISCUSSION:

The Energized Communities program through CPA will significantly benefit new developments such as the City Hall expansion project, the Senior Center and the City Yard. Eligible expenses for project funding from CPA include the purchase of electric equipment and appliances to replace fossil fuel-fired equipment (such as furnaces, water heaters, pool heating, water pumps wastewater treatment, and kitchen appliances), electrical equipment for major renovations or new construction replacing fossil fuel-fired equipment, and energy management devices. Funding also covers warranties, service contracts, subscription fees for energy management software (subject to CPA approval), installation costs for electric equipment and energy management devices (including removal and disposal of existing equipment), and construction costs for electrical panel or energy infrastructure upgrades, including capping or demolishing existing natural gas supply lines.
