RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE $29,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM aLAMEDA COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A TRANsFER SWITCH AT THE HAYWARD COMMUNICATION CENTER WHEREAS, the Alameda County Office of Emergency Services was awarded a grant from Pacific Gas & Electric to provide funding for generators and related hardware installation to power essential facilities throughout the county that do not have existing backup power supplies in place; and WHEREAS, City staff, including members of the Hayward Fire Department and other City departments in collaboration with the Alameda County Office of Emergency Services, identified the Hayward Communications Center (9-1-1 Dispatch Center) as an essential facility in need of alternative power source(s) for the continuity of operations during a sustained power outage; and WHEREAS, on May 11, 2022, the City of Hayward was informed that it was awarded $29,000 in grant funding to install a generator transfer switch at the Hayward Communications Center to support dispatch operations through a power outage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hayward authorizes the City Manager to accept and appropriate $29,000 in grant funding for the work and materials associated with the installation of a generator transfer switch.
