Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Negotiate and Execute an Agreement with Staples Construction Company for the City Hall First Floor Restroom Renovations in an Amount Not-to-Exceed $199,211
Question: Do we need to consider a non-binary/family bathroom space in the remodel?
Suggestion only: For any bathroom remodel, if there are automatic soap dispensers, please make sure that they are placed so that the trigger is not directly in line with the area where people scrub their hands, thus ending up with soap on sleeves or wrists accidentally as frequently happens now.
As part of the building-wide restroom renovations that will take place over the next four years, the second floor (planned for FY24) provides the most flexibility from a total square footage perspective. In addition to the existing Men’s & Women’s restrooms in the main hallway, the “ante-room” restrooms provide two additional existing restroom spaces that will be renovated, one of which could be considered as a non-binary/family restroom. Currently, both ante-room bathrooms are non-gender specific.
