RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE A PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH SAN LEANDRO FORD TO PURCHASE TWO (2) VEHICLES FOR HAYWARD EVALUATION AND RESPONSE TEAM (HEART) PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Hayward is committed to providing appropriate responses to community members experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders and homelessness; WHEREAS, the Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) program has been developed to more efficiently connect people who request emergency services to needed medical, mental health and other social services; and WHEREAS, the City of Hayward intends to purchase Two (2) Ford Explorer vehicles to support HEART program implementation by offering an unmarked vehicle option for calls that do not require a marked patrol vehicle or ambulance to respond; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Hayward hereby adopts this resolution and authorizes the City Manager to execute a purchase agreement with Ford San Leandro Store to purchase two (2) Ford Explorer vehicles and necessary outfitting for a total cost not to exceed $180,000.
