RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AMEND THE VEGETATION MANAGEMENT CONTRACT FOR SPECIFIC-OWNED AND MAINTAINED PROPERTIES WITH JOE’S LANDSCAPE AND CONCRETE BY INCREASING THE CONTRACT BY AN ADDITIONAL $300,727.83, FOR A TOTAL NOT-TO-EXCEED AMOUNT OF $615,727.83, AND EXTEND THE CONTRACT THROUGH FY2026 WHEREAS, the Landscape Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining trees and municipal landscape throughout the City along with vegetation management; and, WHEREAS, vegetation management services are necessary to mitigate fire hazards by completing weed abatement activities, reduce fire fuel materials, and creating fire breaks and other fire defensible spaces; and, WHEREAS, in May 2020, Council adopted Reso. 20-048 that awarded the contract to Joe’s Landscape and Concrete in an amount of $103,215; and, WHEREAS, in April 2021 and April 2022, Council adopted Reso. 21-05 and 22-090, respectively, to increase and extend the contract to continue providing vegetation management services for a total not-to-exceed amount of $315,000 through FY2024; and, WHEREAS, staff recommends increasing and extending the contract to fund vegetation management services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to amend the vegetation management contract for specific-owned and maintained properties with Joe’s Landscape and Concrete by increasing the contract by an additional $300,727.83, for a total not-to-exceed amount of $615,727.83, and extend the contract through FY2026.
