Dear Mayor and Council Members,
During today's City Council meeting, we are formally submitting a petition that at the time I'm writing this has 381 signatures. The purpose of this petition is to request permission to install a permanent ghost bike memorial Chris Peña at the intersection where he lost his life while biking home from work.
It is Chris' family's hope that his bike memorial will be a permanent installation that honors his memory, reminds motorists to safely share the road, and encourages our City Council to improve street safety for all forms of transportation.
Please see the attached PDF for the petition with a copy of the signatures.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Family & Friends of Chris Peña, in collaboration with Bike Hayward
