RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE PURCHASE OF TWO PLUNGER VALVES FROM CORE & MAIN LP IN AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $155,850 AS PART OF THE 250-FOOT ZONE FOR PRESSURE REDUCING STRATEGY AT DECOTO PUMP STATION PROJECT NO. 07074 WHEREAS, the Utilities Division staff utilize plunger valves to control and regulate water flow and pressure; and WHEREAS, staff recommends adding a second 16-inch plunger valve and purchasing another as a spare due to their importance in controlling the pressure of such a large portion of the distribution system and the long lead-time associated with their purchase; and WHEREAS, Council has previously approved funding for this purchase as part of the FY24 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) 250-Foot Zone for Pressure Reducing Strategy at the Decoto Pump Station Project No. 07074; and WHEREAS, by investing in the two plunger valves, the City can continue to provide quality water service to its residents and businesses, while maintaining an efficient water distribution system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to proceed with the purchase of two plunger valves from Core & Main LP in an amount not to exceed $155,850.
