RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE $709,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS FOR THE HAYWARD EVALUATION RESPONSE TEAMS (HEART) PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Hayward is committed to providing appropriate responses to community members experiencing mental illness, substance use and homelessness; and WHEREAS, the Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) program has been developed to more efficiently connect people who request emergency services to needed medical, mental health, and other social services; and WHEREAS, the Office of Justice Programs, Byrne Discretionary Community Project Fund/Byrne Discretionary Grants Programs has awarded the City a $709,000 grant from October 2023 through June 2025 to provide critical funding to continue to build the City’s capacity to respond more effectively to people in crisis through the HEART Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward hereby amend the FY 2024 Budget Resolution by authorizing the City Manager to accept and appropriate funding from the Office of Justice Programs in the amount of $709,000 to the Federal Grant Fund 220.
