RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT WITH STRYKER CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF LUCAS CHEST COMPRESSION DEVICES FOR USE BY THE HAYWARD FIRE DEPARTMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $384,836 WHEREAS, the Hayward Fire Department will fulfill CIP Project 07450 with the purchase of Lucas Chest Compression Devices a necessary life-saving tool used in emergency medicine; WHEREAS, Hayward previously purchased these devices from the Stryker Corporation with a trade-in option allowing the Hayward Fire Department to purchase newer devices at a reduced cost; WHEREAS, the existing Lucas Chest Compression devices are reaching their end of life capacity and must be replaced to continue to provide safe, effective, and reliable assistance to fire personnel in the field; WHEREAS, purchasing the Lucas 3, v3.1 newer device, available from the Stryker Corporation, will result in significant cost savings courtesy of their trade-in program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council hereby adopts the following findings and takes the following actions: 1) That the City Manager is authorized negotiate an agreement with the Stryker Corporation for the Purchase of Lucas Chest Compression Devices in an amount not to exceed $384,836, and 2) That the Fire Department may expend CIP funds in the amount of $384,836 to complete the purchase.
