RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH DIAMONDBACK FIRE AND RESCUE FOR THE PURCHASE OF AMKUS AUTO EXTRICATION TOOLS FOR THE HAYWARD FIRE DEPARTMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $111,462.57 WHEREAS, the Hayward Fire Department requires the purchase of additional auto-extrication tools to ensure that all fire apparatuses utilized by the Hayward Fire Department (HFD) are equipped with this essential life-saving equipment, often used when removing a person from their vehicle after an accident; and WHEREAS, HFD performed field testing for various available models of auto extrication tools and the Amkus auto extrication tool consistently received the most positive feedback based on performance, ease of use, and tool compatibility; and WHEREAS, the Amkus system uses a compatible battery power source with existing HFD fire equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council hereby adopts the following findings and takes the following actions:
Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with Diamondback Fire and Rescue for the purchase of Amkus auto extrication tools in an amount not-to-exceed $111,462.57.
