RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ACCEPTANCE AND APPROPRIATION OF URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY GRANT FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION IN CAPITAL GOVERNMENT FUND (FUND 405) WHEREAS, the State of California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire) released a multi-year grant opportunity under the Urban and Community Forestry (UCF) Program; and WHEREAS, staff is required to seek Council authorization to submit an application and accept funds per the grant guidelines; and WHEREAS, on April 9, 2024, staff received approval from the Grant Review Committee to apply for $1,500,000 in grant funds for tree planting and related activities; WHEREAS, there is no match required for the grant or a net impact to any City fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby finds and determines as follows that the City Manager is authorized to accept up to $1,500,000 in U&CF grant funds in Capital Fund (Fund 405) and appropriate the full amount to Project 06933, if awarded.
