RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE $1,212,000 IN STATE LEGISLATIVE DIRECTED SPENDING FUNDING FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES FOR THE HAYWARD EVALUATION RESPONSE TEAM’S PROGRAM OPERATIONS WHEREAS, the City of Hayward is committed to providing appropriate responses to community members experiencing mental illness, substance use and homelessness; and WHEREAS, the Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) program has been developed to more efficiently connect people who request emergency services to needed medical, mental health, and other social services; and WHEREAS, the California Department of Health Care Services has distributed the City $1,212,000 in State Legislative directed funding to provide critical funding to continue to build the City’s capacity to respond more effectively to people in crisis through the HEART program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept and appropriate funding from the California Department of Health Care Services in the amount of $1,212,000 to the State Grant fund 230 for the HEART pilot program ongoing operations.
