RESOLUTION AWARDING THE SIDEWALK REHABILITATION AND WHEELCHAIR RAMPS, FY2024 PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 05324, CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO SPENCON CONSRUCTION INC WHEREAS, by resolution on April 2, 2024, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for the Sidewalk Rehabilitation FY24, Project No. 05324 and called for bids to be received on May 21, 2024; and WHEREAS, on May 21, 2024, five bids were received ranging from $684,312 to $1,284,155: Spencon Construction Inc. of San Ramon, California, submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $684,312, which is 3.6% lower than the Engineer’s Estimate of $710,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that Spencon Construction Inc. is the lowest responsible bidder whose bid complies with the specifications and is hereby awarded the construction contract for the Sidewalk Rehabilitation and Wheelchair Ramps FY24, Project No. 05324, for the amount of $684,312 in accordance with the aforementioned plans and specifications on file in the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Hayward. All other bids are hereby rejected.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that the Director of Public Works is authorized to expend up to $684,312 for project design, construction, project administration, and contingency costs to complete the project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute the contract with Spencon Construction, in the name of and for and on behalf of the City of Hayward, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney.
