RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FORMATION OF THE HOUSING POLICY & RESOURCES COMMITTEE WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 19-020, dated January 29, 2019, the City Council of the City of Hayward established the Homelessness-Housing Task Force for a two-year period beginning in March 2019 through March 2021 to help facilitate a more in-depth evaluation of options to address the current homelessness-housing crisis; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 20-219, dated December 8, 2020, the City Council of the City of Hayward approved an extension of the Homelessness-Housing Task Force for a two-year period through March 2023 to continue to address homelessness and housing concerns in the City of Hayward; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 23-027, dated February 7, 2023, the City Council of the City of Hayward approved an extension of the Homelessness-Housing Task Force for a one-year period through March 2024 to continue to address homelessness and housing concerns in the City of Hayward; and WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 24-090, dated May 21, 2024, the City Council of the City of Hayward approved an extension of the Homelessness-Housing Task Force for an additional meeting to determine a recommendation regarding the future of the task force; and WHEREAS, the task force members recommended converting the Homelessness-Housing Taskforce into a permanent, standing committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council authorizes the formation of the Housing Policy & Resources Committee to replace the Homelessness-Housing Taskforce and the Mayor will appoint three members from the Council to serve on the Committee as set forth in the City Council Handbook; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Housing Policy & Resources Committee will meet on a quarterly basis, similar to the now-defunct Homelessness-Housing Task Force.
