Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Negotiate and Execute a Rental Agreement with Palma Ceia Baptist Church for the Hayward Police Department’s South Resource Center for an Amount Not-to-Exceed $350,000 and TO Appropriate $6,000 from the Measure C Fund to the hayward police department’s measure c community service budget WHEREAS, the City of Hayward (“the City”) and Palma Ceia Baptist Church first entered into a rental lease agreement in October 2022; and WHEREAS, the leased premises is located at 28695 Ruus Road and is used as the Hayward Police Department’s South Resource Center; and WHEREAS, due to the successful partnership between the City and Palma Ceia Baptist Church, a 36-month rental agreement is desired with the option to renew for an additional 36-month term; and WHEREAS, the Hayward Police Department’s South Resource Center is entirely funded by the Measure C fund; and WHEREAS, rent for the leased premises shall be $4,500 per month ($54,000 per year) for the initial 36-month term; and WHEREAS, since the annual cost of the lease will increase by $6,000, annually, the Hayward Police Department requires an additional $6,000 be appropriated from the Measure C Fund (101) and put into the Hayward Police Department’s Measure C Community Service Budget, to fund the first year of the $6,000 increase, for FY 2025; and WHEREAS, staff will aim to keep the rental rate at $4,500 per month during negotiations for the optional second 36-month term and will present any changes in rental cost to Council for consideration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hayward hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute a 36-month rental agreement with Palma Ceia Baptist Church for the Hayward Police Department’s South Resource Center, with the option to renew for one additional 36-month term, for a total amount not-to-exceed $350,000, and appropriate $6,000 from the Measure C Fund (Fund 101) in FY 2025.
