RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO TRI-VALLEY CONTRACTING, INC. DBA TRI-VALLEY STRIPING FOR THE ORCHARD AVENUE TRAFFIC CALMING QUICK-BUILD PILOT PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 05312 IN THE AMOUNT OF $159,237, AND APPROVING $23,886 IN ADMINISTRATIVE CONSTRUCTION CONTINGENCY WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 24-181. On September 17, 2024, the City Council approved the plans and specifications and call for bids for the Orchard Avenue Traffic Calming Quick-Build Pilot Project, Project No. 05312; and WHEREAS, on October 1, 2024, two (2) bids were received. The low bid was submitted by Tri-Valley Contracting, Inc. dba Tri-Valley Striping. The second lowest bid was submitted by Cato’s general Engineering, Inc. dba Cato Paving. The engineer’s estimate for the project (not including contingency) was $160,240.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby awards the contract for the Orchard Avenue Traffic Calming Quick-Build Pilot Project, Project No. 05312 to Tri-Valley Contracting, Inc. dba Tri-Valley Striping of Orinda, California, in accordance with the plans and specifications adopted therefore and on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Hayward, at and for the price name and stated in the final proposal of the hereinabove specified bidder, and all other bids are hereby rejected.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council that the Director of Public Works is authorized to expend up to $23,886 for construction contingencies to complete the project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute the contract with Tri-Valley Contracting, Inc. dba Tri-Valley Striping, in the name of and for and on behalf of the City of Hayward, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney.
