RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE OF CERTAIN SOLE SOURCE PRODUCTS IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE WATER RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY’S (WRRF) NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AND LABORATORY PROJECT, project no. 07786 WHEREAS, the Public Contract Code Section 3400 (c) allows a particular material, product, thing or service to be designated by specific brand or trade name in order to match other products in use on a particular improvement either completed or in the course of completion; and WHEREAS, the City of Hayward intends to sole source Schlage Allegion card readers for site security; and WHEREAS, Schlage Allegion card readers are installed at most City facilities, and a consistent card reader system allows for a universal employee badge system throughout the City; and WHEREAS, the City of Hayward intends to sole source Knox Box key switch system; and WHEREAS, The Knox Box key switch system is required by the Hayward Fire Department for streamlined emergency access at all commercial facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of Hayward intends to sole source Allen Bradley ControlLogix programmable logic controllers (PLC); and WHEREAS, Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs are currently in use at the WRRF, and their continued use allows for operational consistency and efficiency; and WHEREAS, the City of Hayward intends to sole source Allen Bradley Powerflex 755 Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs); and WHEREAS, Allen Bradley Powerflex 755 VFDs are currently in use at the WRRF, and their continued use allows for operational consistency and efficiency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that hereby approves the sole sourcing of the before mentioned products in the plans and specifications and no other brands or manufacturers will be considered for the WRRF New Administration Building and Laboratory, Project No. 07786.
