RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AMEND AND EXTEND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE ALAMEDA COUNTY PROBATION DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE DELIQUENCY PREVENTION NETWORK SERVICES AND TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE $140,065 FROM ALAMEDA COUNTY TO FUND THE EXTENSION WHEREAS, the Hayward Police Department’s Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) has a long-standing history of providing delinquency prevention services to youth and families at risk of juvenile justice involvement; and WHEREAS, in 2019, the YFSB was awarded a three-year contract with the Alameda County Probation Department to provide Diversion, Life Skills and Restorative Justice services as part of the Delinquency Prevention Network; and WHEREAS, in 2022, the contract was extended through February 29, 2024; and WHEREAS, in February 2024, the contract was extended through December 31, 2024; and WHEREAS, In October 2024 the County advised the City of their intention to extend the contract a further 6 months and grant an additional funding of $140,065 to carry the contract out to June 2025; and WHEREAS, amending the agreement with the Probation Department is necessary to continue to provide these services and generate the associated revenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate and execute contracts, and any supporting documents, with the Alameda County Probation Department for services provided by the Hayward Police Department’s Youth and Family Services Bureau; and hereby approves the amendment of the City of Hayward Budget Resolution by accepting and appropriating grant funds in the amount of $140,065.
