RESOLUTION REAPPOINTING COUNCIL MEMBER SYROP AS THE CITY OF HAYWARD REPRESENTATIVE TO THE ALAMEDA COUNTY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR A TWO-YEAR TERM BEGINNING JANUARY 6, 2025, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2026 WHEREAS, on May 16, 2023, the City Council appointed Council Member Syrop as the City of Hayward’s representative on the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (ACMAD) to fill the reminder term left by former Council Member Márquez, which will end December 31, 2024; and WHEREAS, Council Member Syrop has served as the City of Hayward’s representative on ACMAD Board of Trustees, providing exemplary service and leadership in areas such as community outreach, labor relations, education, and representation; and WHEREAS, the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District plays a critical role in protecting Alameda County residents from the risks associated with mosquito-borne diseases; and WHEREAS, in accordance with California Health and Safety Code, District 3 Pest Abatement, Chapter 1 Mosquito Abatement and Vector Control Districts, Article 3 Boards of Trustees and Officers, Section 2024(a), the term of office for a member of the ACMAD Board of Trustees shall be for a term of two or four years, at the discretion of the appointing authority, with terms commencing at noon on the first Monday in January; and WHEREAS, Council Member Syrop’s reappointment for a two-year term will ensure continued representation of the City of Hayward on the ACMAD Board of Trustees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that Council Member Syrop is hereby reappointed as the City of Hayward representative to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees for a two-year term beginning January 6, 2025, and ending December 31, 2026.
