RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE THE
PURCHASE OF CURTIS BLUE LINE BALLISTIC VESTS AND HELMETS FROM LN
CURTIS FOR THE HAYWARD FIRE DEPARTMENT IN A NOT-TO-EXCEED AMOUNT OF $143,625.79
WHEREAS, the existing ballistic personal protective equipment items the Hayward Fire Department currently utilizes are at their end of life capacity and must be replaced to continue to provide safe, effective, and reliable assistance to fire personnel in the field; and
WHEREAS, HFD solicited three quotes for the purchasing of new ballistic safety equipment, to which the LN Curtis Company, through their specialized ballistics line known as “Curtis Blue Line,” provided the most competitive pricing and equipment availability; and
WHEREAS, the Hayward Fire Department (HFD) will fulfill CIP Project 06929 with the purchase of ballistic helmets and vests, which are necessary and life -saving tools for emergency personnel in hostile situations; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council hereby adopts the following findings and takes the following actions: 1) That the City Manager is authorized to approve the purchase of Curtis Blue Line ballistic vests and helmets from LN Curtis, and 2) That the Fire Department may expend CIP funds in an amount not-to-exceed $143,625.79, complete the purchase.
