AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS WITH TREK BICYCLE CASTRO VALLEY IN AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $1,500,000 AND SPECIALIZED BICYCLE COMPONENTS, INC. IN AN AMOUNT NOT -TO-EXCEED $150,000 TO PROVIDE BICYCLES AND BICYCLE SAFETY EQUIPMENT FOR THE
ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION INCENTIVE AND PROMOTION PROGRAM , PROJECT NO. 06937 FOR TWO YEAR CONTRACT TERMS
WHEREAS, the City was awarded funding from the California Air Resources Board to implement the Active Transportation Incentive and Promotion Program, known as Hayward Rides, which will distribute bicycles to Hayward residents with a focus on low income and historically underserved communities in Hayward; and
WHEREAS, the City released a Request for Quote on February 26, 2025 with the bid due on March 14, 2025, requesting pricing for the purchase of bicycles for a term lasting until March 31, 2027; and
WHEREAS, on March 14, 2025, two (2) bids were received from Trek Bicycle Castro Valley and Specialized Bicycle Components, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, both vendors provided value to the City based on the criteria established in the Request for Quote and staff recommend awarding contracts to both vendors; and
WHEREAS, the contract term will be 2 years and will be in effect upon signing the agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that the City Manager is authorized to execute a contract with Trek Bicycle Castro Valley in amount not -to-exceed $ 1,500,000 and with Specialized Bicycle Components, Inc. in an amount not-to-exceed $150,000 in a form to be approved by the City Attorney.
