RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAYWARD
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A SISTER CITY AGREMENT
BETWEEN THE CITY OF HAYWARD, CALIFORNIA, USA, AND ARANDAS,
JALISCO, MEXICO
WHEREAS, the Arandas Sister City Formation Committee has been meeting since 2018 and is in regular communication with elected officials and community members in Arandas; and
WHEREAS, the Formation Committee has developed organization By -Laws and is prepared to continue their leadership to foster a Sister Cities relationship; and
WHEREAS, the Formation Committee assisted in the development of the language of the attached agreement and supports the values stated within; and
WHEREAS, in 2020, the City’s Fire Department donated a fire engine to Arandas that was being retired from its fleet and hosted a visit from Arandas officials; and
WHEREAS, i n 2019, the City reaffirmed its growing relationship with the City of Arandas via City Council proclamation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hayward hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute the Sister City Agreement by and between the City of Hayward, California, USA and Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A.
