RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND
APPROPRIATE $650,000 FROM THE ALAMEDA COUNTY PROBATION
DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FOR FISCAL YEAR S 2026 AND 202 7 AND TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE A TWO-YEAR AGREEMENT FOR SUCH SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Hayward Police Department’s Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) has a long-standing history of providing prevention services to youth and families at risk of juvenile justice involvement; and
WHEREAS, in May of 2024, a Request for Proposal was released by Alameda County Soliciting bids to provide Diversion, Life Skills, Restorative Justice, and Gender Responsive services, which the City was awarded; and
WHEREAS, executing a two-year agreement with the Probation Department is necessary to provide these services and generate the associated revenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate and execute contracts, and any supporting documents, with the Alameda County Probation Department for services provided by the Hayward Police Department’s Youth and F amily Services Bureau ; and hereby approves the amendment of the City of Hayward Budget Resolution by accepting and appropriating funds in the amount of $ 650,000 ($325,000 annually for FY 2026 and FY 2027).
