RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AUTHORIZE AND
EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS
CONTINUING AND PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR PARAMEDIC LICENSING IN AN AMOUNT NOT-TO-EXCEED $300,000 OVER TWO YEARS
WHEREAS, the Hayward Fire Department has a hiring prerequisite to employ all paramedic firefighters;
WHEREAS, there is a minimum staffing agreement between the Hayward Fire Department and the Local 1909 Firefighter’s Union;
WHEREAS, the Hayward Fire Department implemented a one-time side letter with the Local 1909 Firefighter’s Union to onboard emergency medical technicians;
WHEREAS, the emergency medical technicians are required to obtain paramedic certification within the first two years of employment;
WHEREAS, the money received from the University of California, Davis Continuing and Professional Education Program will be used to fund the Hayward Fire Department’s Program for Paramedic Licensing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hayward hereby authorizes the City Manager execute an agreement with the University of California, Davis Continuing and Professional Education Program for Paramedic Licensing in amount not-to-exceed $300,000 over two years.
