RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE SIDE LETTER AGREEMENT AMENDING THE MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) BETWEEN THE CITY OF HAYWARD AND THE HAYWARD FIRE CHIEFS’ ASSOCIATION (HFCA), TO REFLECT THE VOLUNTARY EMPLOYEE BENEFICIARY ASSOCIATION (VEBA) PLAN (“PLAN”)
WHEREAS, the City and HFCA agree that City will make available for HFCA members a VEBA Plan to enable eligible employees to accumulate funds in a tax -exempt trust from which qualified medical expenses can be paid, including certain post -retirement medical expenses benefits accounts; and
WHEREAS, the proposed change requires all employees who are members of HFCA to participate in the plan through bi -weekly payroll deduction of fifty dollars ($50.00) per pay period effective July 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS, this Side Letter agreement supersedes all previous VEBA Side Letter agreements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE City Council hereby approves the amendment to the MOU and authorizes staff to execute said agreements, a copy of which will be on file in the Office of the City Clerk.
