RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND
APPROPRIATE $215,040 IN STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION GRANT FUNDING THROUGH THE 2025
WILDFIRE READY EAST BAY GRANT PROGRAM TO SUPPORT CHIPPING AND
RESIDENTIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM S PROVIDED BY THE HAYWARD FIRE
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hayward Fire Department has been awarded $215,040 in g rant funding through the 2025 Wildfire Ready East Bay grant program from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to support chipping and residential assistance program initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the Hayward Fire Department established its chipping program in 2012 and has relied solely on grant funding to continue the ability to host this program; and
WHEREAS, the award valuation for the Wildfire Ready East Bay program will allow for expanded services within the existing program, including service to a larger geographic region, an education campaign, and an increase in participation in emergency preparedness programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hayward that the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept and appropriate $215,040 in Cal FIRE grant funding to support chipping and residential assistance programs facilitated by the Hayward Fire Department.
