RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT TO THE EMPLOYMENT
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF HAYWARD AND THE CITY MANAGER
AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Hayward is facing a budget deficit and is taking measures to reduce costs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hayward must realize cost saving measures for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-27; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Executive Team supports deferring the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase due for unrepresented executive classifications at the beginning of the fiscal year to the end of fiscal year 2026-27; and
WHEREAS, t he City Manager previously agreed to forgo the personal equipment stipend and vehicle allowance in her employment agreement for the first year of employment, representing a n approximate four and one- half percent 4.5% reduction in overall compensation; and will continue forgoing the personal equipment stipend and vehicle allowance for an additional six months, through the end of Fiscal Year 2026-27.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Hayward hereby approves an amendment to the employment agreement between the City of Hayward and the City Manager.
