RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE CLEAN AIR CENTER PROGRAM GRANT AND APPROPRIATING $25,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF A FIVE-YEAR SUPPLY OF
AIR FILTERS FOR THE DOWNTOWN AND WEEKES LIBRARIES
WHEREAS, the City and Bay Area Air District entered into a Clean Air Center Program Grant Agreement in 2025; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of the agreement, the City agreed to operate the Downtown Library and the Weekes Library as Clean Air Centers for a period of five years, providing safe indoor spaces for community members during periods of intense wildfire smoke or poor air quality; and
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Air District will reimburse the City for the cost of purchasing a five-year supply of HEPA certified air filters rated MERV 13 or higher, in an amount not to exceed $24,788.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Hayward hereby accepts the Clean Air Center Program Grant and hereby appropriates $25,000 for the purchase of a five -year supply of HEPA certified air filters rated MERV 13 or higher for the Downtown and Weekes Library.
