MEETING
A regular meeting of the Hayward Youth Commission was called to order at 6:37 by Kaili Spooner.
CALL TO ORDER Pledge of Allegiance
Commissioner Kaili led the Pledge of Allegiance at 6:37 p.m. 6:38 ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Alessandra Eiras, Joseph Franco, Harnoor Gill, Joshua Linares, Lizbeth Martinez, Ellette Mendall, James Mira, Sruthy Sabesan, Camila San Juan, Kaili Spooner, Anna Tran, Vanna Van, Amanda Wei and Darien West ABSENT: Ivan Arroyo, Alejandro Correa-Alejo, Israel Mendez, Arianna Mendoza, Pooja Rathaur, Katherine Tran, and Cynthia Vertiz-Jimnenez 6:39 APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Sruthy made the motion to approve the minutes with the necessary changes and the motion was seconded by Commissioner James: Approve: 11, Disapprove: 0, Abstain: 1 6:42 PUBLIC COMMENTS
Amber Billoups joined our meeting to talk to us about reappointment for 2021-2022 and she had all commissioners who wanted to be reappointed state the school they would be attending in the Fall. 6:52 TASK FORCE UPDATES
There will be a clean up and July 4th at Heritage Plaza. There will be a second clean up some time in October at Weeks Park. 6:53 HAYWARD CITY COUNCIL, HARD & HUSD REPORTS
HARD: summer camp capacity has been increased. They are also revamping their volunteer participation by cleaning up local parks. HARD is also partnering with the county library to encourage people to read in some of haywards parks HUSD: all schools are opening up for in person school after a day of asynchronous work HL: Library reopening started today and is open for limited time and capacity 6:57 HYC JOINING EMPOWERMENT COLLECTIVE AS AN ORGANIZATION The commissioners vote on whether they want to join The Youth Empowerment collective as an organization. Commissioner Lizbeth made the motion to join the Youth Empowerment Collective as an organization and the motion was seconded by Commissioner James: Approve: 10, Disapprove: 0, Abstain: 0, the motion passes unanimously. 7:08 FUNDRAISER UPDATE
The flyer has been approved and will be sent out to Summer Search to spread the work about the fundraiser. 7:09 YOUTH SUMMIT PLANNING COMMITTEES
Commissioners overview important dates and assign commission roles for the conference. We also confirmed who would speak/present during the opening and closing ceremonies. 7: 55 ANNOUNCEMENTS/AGENDA ITEMS
The meeting on May 10th from 5:30-7:00pm is a mandatory run through of the event. The May 6th meeting will be a run through for the opening and closing ceremonies so all speakers for these ceremonies must be present. The Hayward Youth Conference will be May 15th 11:00-2:00. Commissions must be on zoom by 10:30 that day.
