Approval of Minutes of the Community Services Commission Meeting on February 17, 2021 A motion to approve the minutes was moved by Commissioner Janet Kassouf with a second by Commissioner Lenora Taylor. The minutes were unanimously approved with the correction of Commissioner Afshan Qureshi being in attendance.
Discussion:
FY 2021-2022 Community Agency Funding Process CSC Final Funding Recommendations Ms. Lee provided an overview of the annual FY 21-22 Community Agency Funding Process. She also announced, for the first time, the ARCs conducted agency interviews virtually for two days on January 23rd and 30th. A total of 47 applications were received this fiscal year. On March 2, 2021, the City of Hayward was notified it is receiving a CDBG entitlement award greater than the original estimated amount prior, staff adjusted the original funding amounts for any additional amounts.
A motion to approve and move forward with the CSC Final Funding Recommendations to the City Council was moved by Commissioner Arti Garg with a second by Commissioner Artavia Berry.
CSC Agenda Planning Calendar
No changes to the submitted CSC Agenda Planning Calendar.
A motion to approve the CSC Agenda Planning Calendar with no changes was moved by Commissioner Arzo Mehdavi with a second by Commissioner Crystal Arrizon and unanimously approved by the entire commission.
Council Liaison / Commissioner / Staff Announcements
Commissioner Artavia Berry congratulated all serving on commission this year. Also announced reminder of the opportunity to nominate potential recipients for the Regional Jefferson Award; currently no Hayward nominations have been made. There is no deadline, nominate at any time.
Commissioner Crystal Arrizon announced April Career Talks for LPS Hayward high school students with an open invitation to fellow commissioners to participate as a professional panelist.
Ms. Davis announced this meeting will be her last CSC meeting prior to being on maternity leave. Jessica Lobedan has been assigned as Acting Community Services Manager during Ms. Davis’ leave.
