Weed
Abatement
Process
FIRE
• Fire Department staff inspect all parcels annually
for weeds, brush, and other fire hazards.
• On May 18, 2026, the City Council declared the
listed properties a public nuisance.
• Property owners received 30 days to abate the
hazard or protest at the August 17, 2026, public
hearing.
• Staff reinspected the properties and contacted
owners who had not completed abatement.
• Remaining hazards may be abated by a City
contractor, with costs billed to the property owner.
• Continued inspections and education.
2026
Seasonal
Challenges
FIRE
• Early-season rains created multiple grassgrowing cycles. • These conditions resulted in more properties
remaining on the list than in recent years.
• Inspections are a snapshot in time; properties
previously cleared may require additional
mowing.
• More than 4,900+ parcels were inspected—
many more than once.
Vegetation
Management
Update
FIRE
• 7/1/26 - Successful broadcast burn at Fitch
Mountain Villa Commons/Raja properties.
• Fuel reduction work continues HROSP.
