SITE NOTESFranklin Canyon Golf Course is currently servedby an existing Wastewater Disposal System(WTDS) which is approved by the Contra CostaCounty Environmental Health (CCEH). Theexisting system has a volume of less than10,000 gallons. This current project will replacethe existing septic system and higher capacityonsite treatment facility with a subsurfacedisposal system. This new WTDS would beapproved by the Bay Area Regional WaterQuality Control Board (RWQCB) and not CCEH,because the proposed new system willdischarge over 10,000 gallons per day.The project proposes development of twodisposal zones (A and B), as shown.Zone A is projected to have a maximum effluentflow of 10,950 gallons per day (GPD). Zone Awould be composed of a treatment system withtwo septic tanks. The first septic tank willprovide primary treatment for the flow from theClass A RV sites (RVs with bus or truckchassis) and tent bungalows with 10,000-galloncapacity. The second septic tank would have a7,500-gallon capacity for effluent flows from theclubhouse/restaurant and supportingbathrooms. All post-septic tank effluent wouldflow to National Sanitation Foundation (NSF)certified 12,000 GPD secondary treatment units. The wastewater from Zone A would be pumpedfor secondary treatment to a shallow subsurfacesystem covering approximately 101,262 squarefeet, which would also provide irrigation to thedriving range.Zone B is projected to have a maximum effluentflow of 2,600 GPD. The wastewater from ZoneB will be pumped for primary treatment to ashallow subsurface system coveringapproximately 22,400 square feet. Effluent fromthe Class B/C RV sites (Class B is the smallestclass, and Class C RVs typically are built on atruck or van chassis), the pool, and supportingbathrooms, will flow into a lift station and bepumped into a separate onsite wastewatertreatment and disposal system. Zone B will betreated by two 5,000-gallon septic tanks toserve the Class B/C sites for primary treatment, and then a NSF-certified secondary treatmentunit, which could treat up to 2,700 GPD ofeffluent in compliance with the City’s NPDESPermit. All wastewater facilities will be setback from thecreek by at least 50ft as is required byregulations.
