HERCULES CITY COUNCIL
RESOLUTION NO. 22-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERCULES APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH THE CITY OF PINOLE FOR THE SAN PABLO AVENUE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, the San Pablo Avenue Bridge is located in Pinole just west of the Hercules city limits; and WHEREAS, the 80 years old bridge is in need of replacement because it does not meet current structural design standards and lacks pedestrian and bicycle facilities; and WHEREAS, Pinole has programmed approximately $20M in grant funding out of the $30M needed to replace the bridge; and WHEREAS, to construct the Project work will need to be completed within the Hercules city limits and impact residential properties; and WHEREAS, it is recommended the cities enter into an MOU that specifies respective roles and responsibilities to ensure the project can proceed forward successfully while meeting both cities’ needs and expectations; and WHEREAS, the MOU includes support for the preferred alternative, which will construct the replacement bridge along the current alignment, resulting in less impact to the adjacent properties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hercules that the City Council hereby approves a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City of Pinole for the San Pablo Avenue Bridge Replacement Project.
The foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hercules held on the 9th day of August, 2022 by the following vote of the Council:
