STAFF REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
DATE: Regular Meeting of October 11, 2022
TO: Members of the City Council
VIA: Dante Hall, City Manager
SUBMITTED BY: Lauren Berges, City Clerk
SUBJECT: Cancellation of November 8, 2022 Regular City Council Meeting and Scheduling a Special City Council Meeting RECOMMENDED ACTION: It is recommended that the City Council adopt a motion to cancel the regular City Council meeting of November 8, 2022 and schedule a special City Council meeting in its place.
FISCAL IMPACT OF RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable.
BACKGROUND: At the regular City Council meeting on September 27, 2022, Councilmember Romero requested that the regular meeting scheduled for November 8, 2022 be rescheduled to accommodate the November 8, 2022 General Election. Councilmembers Kelley, Romero, Vice Mayor Walker-Griffin, and Mayor Bailey unanimously agreed to bring the request back to Council for discussion prior to November. Councilmember Grimsley was not present.
DISCUSSION: The City Council generally meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Although not required by state open meeting laws, it is the usual practice for the Council to take action when its meeting schedule is modified in order to provide ample notice to the public of the changed meeting date. Due to the scheduling conflict, the Council will consider cancelling the November 8th, 2022 regular City Council meeting and schedule a special meeting for November in its place.
