RESOLUTION NO. 23-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERCULES APPROVING A THIRD AMENDMENT TO AN AGREEMENT WITH YIFTEE IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000 FOR THE “SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY” DIGITAL GIFT CARD INCENTIVE PROGRAM, AND AMENDING THE FY 23-24 BUDGET INCREASING ITS APPROPRIATION BY $25,000 WHEREAS, the City of Hercules values its locally owned small businesses and seeks to improve the economic climate for small businesses; and WHEREAS, Small Business Saturday is an annual event that encourages consumers to support local, independently owned businesses in their communities. It falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and serves as a counterpoint to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which often prioritize larger retailers and e-commerce giants; and WHEREAS, the City entered into an Agreement with Yiftee for the Shop Local/Gift Card Program on April 26, 2022 for $65,000; and WHEREAS, due to successful launch of the pilot program, the City Council approved the First Amendment to the Agreement, adding $75,000 to the program and increasing the budget by $75,000; and WHEREAS, to encourage large employers in the vicinity of Hercules to patronize Hercules restaurants and caterers, the City Council approved the Second Amendment to the Agreement, adding $50,000 to the program and increasing the budget by $50,000; and WHEREAS, the Third Amendment would add $25,000 to the Yiftee Gift Card program. Staff is proposing that the budget be increased by $25,000 for the introduction of the Small Business Saturday pilot program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hercules as follows:
The Third Amendment to the Agreement with Yiftee is hereby approved and the City Manager is authorized to execute the third amendment to the agreement.
The City Council hereby approves an amendment to the City’s FY 23-24 Budget to add $25,000 for the introduction of the Small Business Saturday Yiftee Gift Card program.
The foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hercules held on the 14th day of November 2023 by the following vote of the Council:
