RESOLUTION 2026-XX
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HERCULES APPROVING THE ADDITION OF A POLICE SUPPORT SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION TO THE CITY’S CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND APPROVING AN AMENDED FISCAL YEAR 2026 – 2027 MASTER SALARY SCHEDULE WHEREAS, as part of the adopted Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget, the City Council approved the upgrade of an existing Police Department position to establish a supervisory-level position within the Police Support Specialist class series; and WHEREAS, the City currently does not have a dedicated non-sworn supervisory classification within the Police Support Specialist class series; and WHEREAS, the proposed Police Support Supervisor classification will serve as the first-line non-sworn supervisory level within the class series and will provide direct supervision, training, performance management, work coordination, and operational oversight of assigned police support staff; and WHEREAS, the City maintains a Classification Plan and Master Salary Schedule to ensure positions are appropriately defined, classified, and compensated; and WHEREAS, the Police Support Supervisor classification will be a full-time, non-exempt position represented by Teamsters Local 315 and placed in Pay Grade 147, consistent with comparable supervisory classifications and the level of supervisory responsibility and organizational placement of the position; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to formally add the Police Support Supervisor classification and accompanying job description to the City’s Classification Plan and reflect the classification in the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Master Salary Schedule; and WHEREAS, California Public Employees’ Retirement System (“CalPERS”) regulations require compensation earnable to be established and reported in accordance with applicable law and publicly available pay schedules approved by the governing body.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Hercules as follows:
The City Council approves the addition of the Police Support Supervisor job description to the City’s Classification Plan and approves the Police Support Supervisor job description attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference.
The Police Support Supervisor classification shall be a full-time, non-exempt classification represented by Teamsters Local 315 and shall be assigned to Pay Grade 147.
The City Council hereby approves the amended Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Master Salary Schedule, effective July 5, 2026, and last updated August 11, 2026, in compliance with CalPERS regulations, attached hereto as Exhibit B and incorporated herein by reference.
The City Manager, or designee, is authorized to implement this Resolution and take all actions necessary to carry out its intent.
The foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hercules held on the 8th of September 2026, by the following vote of the Council:
