SUBJECT:
Amendment to Contract with JAS Pacific, Inc.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to approve an amendment to the existing contract with JAS Pacific, Inc. for an additional $195,000, for a revised not-to-exceed contract amount of $320,000 for contract inspection services.
BACKGROUND
Building and Safety is responsible for providing inspections on all construction projects in the City. Contract inspection services are needed to keep pace with development in the City in lieu of hiring additional staff to absorb the increased workload. These services include, but are not limited to, the performance of inspections of residential, commercial, industrial buildings and structures, structural framing and foundations, electrical plumbing, mechanical systems, roofing, photovoltaic, and grading.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
In 2021, the City executed a three-year agreement with JAS in the amount not-to-exceed $125,000, of which 100% has been expensed. While the existing fee schedule will be maintained, additional contract authority is needed to continue inspection services.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding exists within the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021-22 adopted budget and will continue to be budgeted through FY 2023-24.
ALTERNATIVE(S)
