Backup Solution replacement
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a three-year agreement with Xentegra Gov LLC in an amount not-to-exceed $143,077 to replace the City’s backup solution with current and supported technology solutions.
BACKGROUND
The City’s current backup solution was designed around legacy server and storage requirements, and newer technology has quickly become the industry standard for supporting cyber security. Support and maintenance are no longer available to support the City’s current backup environment and has led to complications with compatibility that new hardware and software will resolve.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
In response to the at-risk solution in place, staff intends to utilize the tech exemption purchasing option and contract with Xentegra who currently provides the City’s disaster recovery solution and support for the city’s servers and storage. Xentegra’s proposed solution is compatible with the City’s current server and storage infrastructure and will augment existing offsite backups. Xentegra is the designated partner vendor for the city by the manufacturer of existing used server and storage.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this project has been included in the Adopted Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23 Budget and will continue to be included in the Information Technology annual operating budget.
