RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended the City Council receive and file information on Capital Improvement Projects related to traffic congestion and associated concerns.

At the August 2, 2022 City Council Meeting, Council Member Gregg requested an item be agendized that addresses concerns related to future traffic signal installation and high collision intersections in Hesperia.

To address traffic congestion, as well as high collision intersections, the City’s annual Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget includes funding for projects that will alleviate concerns at intersections throughout Hesperia.

In June, the City Council adopted a $43,462,945 budget for Streets CIP, the majority of which is allocated to the Ranchero Widening Project. Budgeted projects that will enhance traffic flow and safety include:

Traffic Signal – Ranchero Road and Maple Avenue
Traffic Signal – Ranchero Road and Cottonwood Avenue
Traffic Signal – Ranchero Road and Seventh Avenue
Traffic Signal – Main Street and Timberlane Avenue
Street Improvements – Maple Avenue
Street Improvements – Jacaranda Avenue
Street Improvements – Seventh Avenue
Through the City Council’s Legislative Platform, the City is actively pursuing grants and other funding opportunities to fund additional improvements identified as Priority Projects, including:

Transportation
Main Street Widening and Aqueduct Bridge Construction
I Avenue Widening
Sultana Street, Muscatel Street, and Cedar Street Improvements Bear Valley Road Rehabilitation and Widening Project
North-South Corridor Improvements
Traffic Signals at Seventh Avenue and Sequoia; and Escondido Avenue and Sultana Street.

FISCAL IMPACT
None.
