Renewal of Nutanix Xi Leap Disaster Recovery Service
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to renew the City’s subscription to Nutanix Xi Leap Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) from Xentegra, for a not-to-exceed amount of $49,696.
BACKGROUND
When developing an organization’s disaster recovery plan, industry best-practices dictate a hybrid model that places multiple copies of critical data in both on-site and off-site repositories. As one of several measures intended to strengthen the City’s cybersecurity posture, the Information Technology Division procured a yearly subscription for Nutanix’s Xi Leap disaster recovery service, through Xentegra, LLC. The current subscription with Xentegra will expire at the end of the calendar year.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
In October 2022, the City entered into a three-year agreement in the amount of $143,077 with Xentegra, to replace the City’s aging backup solution with current and supported technology solutions. As a cloud based, off-site disaster recovery service, Xi Leap DRaaS compliments the on-site Nutanix Mine Cluster backup and disaster recovery package from Xentegra. Together, Nutanix Xi Leap and Mine form a comprehensive data backup and disaster recovery plan that provides robust redundancy, failover, and data resiliency capabilities. Unfortunately, the annual subscription renewal was not included in the three-year agreement, therefore staff is requesting approval from Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this subscription renewal is included in the Adopted Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23 Budget and will continue to be included in the Information Technology annual budget.
