lf of the Center for Biological Diversity (“Center”) regarding the proposed Dara Industrial Project (“Project”). The Project proposes the construction of a warehouse and industrial building with associated improvements, as more specifically described in the Project application materials submitted to the Cit y and the draft Environmental Impact Report (“EIR”) for the Project, (State Clearinghouse No. 2022040060).
As you know, the Center raised objections as to the adequacy of the environmental review for the Project, including via comments submitted to the City on September 8, 2022, and January 25, 2023. After the City of Hesperia (“City”) Planning Commission’s January 26, 2023 approval of the Project, the Center filed an appeal of that decision to the City Council. A public hearing on the Center’s appeal is currently scheduled before the City Council for the evening of April 4. Following the Center’s appeal, the Cent er and SRD Design Studio, Inc. (the developer of the Project) began a series of discussions that ultimately led to a mutual agreement to address the Center’s concerns.
Per the terms of the agreement, if the City adopts certain changes to the EIR and certain additional conditions of approval, the Center will not oppose or challenge the City’s decision to approve the Project. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
