SUBJECT:
Vehicle Procurement – One Heavy-Duty Truck
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the Board of Directors of the Hesperia Water District authorize the City Manager to approve the procurement of one heavy-duty 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 truck for the Production Program, awarding the bid to Victorville Chevrolet/Cadillac, and enter into an agreement for the not-to-exceed amount of $58,020.
BACKGROUND
Vehicles are periodically reviewed to maintain an optimal operating fleet. Vehicles that exceed the average useful life and have higher than expected lifetime maintenance costs are recommended for replacement. Long-term maintenance costs are lowered by replacing the fleet on a regular basis. Other fleet replacement benefits include lower fuel expenditures and improved occupant safety.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
The Public Works Division released a formal request for bid (RFB) 2023-24-002 on July 10, 2023 and solicited bids from vendors both locally and out of the area to maximize bid response. A public bid opening was held on July 20, 2023, with one response received. Vendors who did not respond include Victorville Motors, Fairview Ford, Sunland Ford, and Sunrise Ford. Staff recommends awarding the bid to Victorville Chevrolet/Cadillac who has been deemed to be the lowest responsive/responsible vendor.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding has been included in the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Operating Budget.
