SUBJECT:
Antony’s Animal Hospital Contract Amendment
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to approve an amendment of $25,360 to the existing contract with Antony’s Animal Hospital, for a revised not-to-exceed contract amount of $75,360 for spay, neuter, exams and emergency animal care.
BACKGROUND
Beginning in 2011 through August 2023, the City contracted with an onsite veterinarian. This allowed the City reduced costs related to veterinary services. Through the onsite veterinarian, the City was afforded the benefit of proximity, priority of services and volume discounting. At the beginning of Fiscal Year 2023-24, the City unexpectedly lost services of the onsite contracted veterinarian and on August 24, 2023 the City conducted a request for bid for spay, neuter, and emergency animal care services. Antony’s Animal Hospital was the only bid submitted and a contract was awarded on September 6, 2023.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
The current contract with Antony’s Animal Hospital is for a not-to-exceed amount of $50,000. Based on expenses incurred year-to-date, staff estimates that an additional $25,360 is needed for the remainder of the fiscal year.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for the additional $25,360 will be submitted as a budget amendment during the Mid-Year Budget Review.
