Vehicle Procurement – Mid-Size Truck Replacement
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the Board of Directors of the Hesperia Water District (HWD) authorize the City Manager to approve the procurement of one (1) 2024 Chevrolet Colorado mid-size 4 x 4 truck for the Production Program, awarding the bid to Victorville Chevrolet, and enter into an agreement for the not-to-exceed amount of $41,047.
BACKGROUND
On January 5, 2024, vehicle 1168 was involved in a traffic accident. The 2006 Ford F-150 is approaching 123,000 miles and is eighteen (18) years old. This vehicle has reached the end of its useful lifespan as estimated accident repair costs along with annual costs attributed to maintaining the asset exceed the salvage value.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
The Public Works Division released an informal request for quote (RFQ) on January 10, 2024, and solicited bids from seven vendors both locally and out of the area to maximize the bid response. The bid closed on January 16, 2024, with Victorville Chevrolet deemed to be the lowest responsive/responsible vendor.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for the purchase of the replacement vehicle is not included in the FY 2023-24 Budget. A budget amendment will be presented to the Board during the FY 2023-24 Mid-Year Budget Review.

Provide alternative direction to staff.
